Northern Lake County Cancer Survivor Applauds New Organic Kitchen
Cancer survivors are often advised by their doctors to avoid pesticides and hormones by eating organic foods whenever possible. Waukegan resident Sherry Sussman, a breast cancer patient, was delighted when she discovered Easy Gourmet Meals in Gurnee. "When my oncologist told me to try to eat organic meats and produce I was driving all over trying to find ingredients, and when I did they were so expensive. Customers sign up for a session where they assemble 6 meals, in either 3 or 6 serving sizes. And, the typical cost is just about $5.50 per serving for a restaurant quality meal. For $4.00 more they'll assemble your meals, just pick them up and enjoy.
This is no surprise to Christina Wickenkamp who is a two time cancer survivor. She opened this business so more people could take advantage of the health and environmental benefits of organic food. Her guiding principle is organic food that is convenient at an obtainable price.
